  • I've done a few ring gears, aside from splitting the tractor it's not that hard. You have to mark everything and make sure the bevel of the teeth of new ring gear is facing same as old gear and make sure timing marks are where they were same as old gear(if timing marks are on gear,I can't remember). After I split old gear, it just falls off,I cooled flywheel and heated new ring gear evenly all around,I've used a hand torch and other methods to get it good and hot and it just slides right on the flywheel. Then as it cools it shrinks to a tight fit on flywheel. Others may have better ways but this has never failed for me. God Bless, Beth and Allen.
