  • Jet size
  • On the myfordtractor page he says for the power jet it should be .050.I was going to drill out the oem jet to .050 but they dont make a bit that size they go to .0469 then jump to .052,he said dont use anything over .050.
    Any ideas.Thanks

  • Another thought. The ultimate mixture is set not by the main jet, but by the power adjust needle. Main jet & power adjust needle are in series , so the smaller opening sets the mixture. If you can back the power adj needle out far enough (3 + revolutions)to make it run rich (black smoke)then you can be sure that main jet is plenty large!

  • Yep, that's why a jet that is too big can always be tuned to run right, but too small (or fail to completely clean out a passage) and the carb always has to come apart for another whack.

  • Ford tried several different sets of jet sizes over the years these tractors were built. They even tried to do without the economizer jet at one point. The last recommendation I saw was to just go with the TSX-241B spec (Idle 0.024, Econ 0.038, Power 0.050). Jets provided in the kits or found in carbs can be just about any size. I try to get close to the TSX-241B spec with the jets I have. JMOR is entirely correct, 0.043 for the power jet can be properly tuned. I probably worry too much about being too lean with a power jet, but if my closest available bit size was 0.0469 I would run that thru and call it close enough.

  • 0.043 is plenty. What size is it now?
