  • Does anyone see problem with using a 12 volt solar charger/maintainer on two 6 volt batteries batteries hooked up in series?

  • Why buy two 6V units? You can get a combo 6V/12V unit to be versatile. Don't know about anything solar, waste of time/money IMHO but you do need a FLOAT charger, not standard charger/maintainer. DELTRAN Battery Tender Jr.® ™. It is a popular brand, available at Walmart, $30. A battery charger, even a "trickle" charger, left unattended will eventually boil out a battery. Connect the battery Tender to your battery when the tractor is idle for periods over a week. Maintains a full charge for when you need it most. Don’t think just because you put your battery on a charger it is good. The constant draining and recharging I the cause of battery life depleting. You need to also invest in a good brand battery -not teh cheap bargain house brands. Your time, your money, invest wisely.

  • I did that with my 1963 mgb for many years with no problems. Both batteries were same age and size. Check fluid levels every season.

  • Certainly not an expert but my thought would be you would want the batteries to be matched in capacity. Also make sure the electrolyte is at the proper level in all cells.

  • OK. The link was provided for genera information on dual charging. I don't see any reason the power source would make a difference.

  • ive used 120vac 6 volt tenders in parallel to keep two batteries charged when power service is available. This is for a location where there is no ac service. Moving batteries around is no fun plus i have burned more than one hole in my clothing from the acid....
