  • Flywheel Ring Gear
  • Folks, I'm replaciing the ring gear on the flywheel of my 52 8N due to damaged teeth. The tractor is at a remote shop at the moment and I will not see it again before Friday.

My replacement ring gear from A & I (Yes, I know) arrived today and the teeth are beveled on neither side.

IIRC, the OEM ring gears have beveled teeth on the starter drive side to facilitate engagement, but, again, I will not again see the tractor to verify for a few days.

I suspect that all of the Chinese made replacement ring gears do not have beveled teeth but am not sure.

Anyone know? If so, anyone know where to get one with beveled teeth?

  • I don't know for sure but I'd say all ringgears are made with the beveled edge on both sides nowadays. Look at the ID of the gear and if there is larger chamfer on one side, place that side down on the flywheel. What's A&I?

  • Straight cut teeth.

No bevel or chamfer either side.

A & I is a large agricultural equipment parts supplier now owned by JD. They do not sell retail.
