Ignition Switch
I tried Dennis Carpenter and Just8Ns but neither has this rare tractor ignition switch. Home Depot maybe? Good to 120VAC. F0RD 9N/2N WITH HO-MADE IGNITION SWITCH:

Re: Ignition Switch
I just noticed what appears to be a splint taped onto the steering wheel, maybe even 2 of them. I never knew they would heal!

Re: Ignition Switch
I have several of those that I have salvaged over the years. I would be happy to send you one or two. Do you want the nice brown bake-a-lite color?

Re: Ignition Switch
Just noticed the AMMETER is showing a charge but oil gauge not registering....hhhhmmmm is it running or not? It's an 8N but the hood isn't attached to the dash panel. Don't remember where I found this and thought I'd seen it all. What's next, a 240VAC EI conversion??? Tim Daley(MI)

Re: Ignition Switch
Tim , it’s Andy in NY , those are pictures of my 8n with the light switch , since replaced with the quality ( not Cheena ) , switch from Just8Ns , the ammeter looks like it’s charging , but a closer look will see that the needle is laying in the bottom of the gauge , that is a paint drip from brush paint job , haha . Thanks alway enjoy the banter with fellow N owners :) just a note of course the tractors not running the switch is in the off position

Re: Ignition Switch
I installed a NOS Ford key switch on my 600. The switch is so unreliable, that wall switch looks tempting !!

Re: Ignition Switch
Where did you get it? I've had the Dennis Carpenter OEM-style 8N-3679-C Ignition Switch, with cloth covered wiring, NOT vinyl since I rebuilt my 8N in 2003 and have had NO problems. Same switch used from 48 (8N)thru 64. Tim Daley(MI)

Re: Ignition Switch
The bad switch was NOS in Ford packaging with vinyl covered wires. The ignition cuts out sometimes while running because the switch loses continuity. A "key-on" warning light shows the problem. It takes several swipes of the contacts to get continuity before starting. I haven't used the tractor enough since refurbishing for it to be a priority, but switch replacement is definitely needed.
