Was wondering what the correct height was for the filler neck on 8N tractor , mine seems to be a newer radiator , but previous owner banged the area down around the filler neck so regular radiator cap would fit , bought correct cap from Just8Ns , won’t work , front of hood is pushed in a little , don’t know if that has raised hood enough to cause this ? Just acquired nice hood and dog legs from a 51 that was lost in a fire , luckily it had been removed from tractor prior to the catastrophe, I know I can test fit to see if my hood is the problem , but before I go through all that was wondering what height of the filler neck is , mine is 2” from top of radiator to top of filler , thanks, Andy

I don't have dimensions but I will say that one of my tractors had a Ferguson radiator on it. It functioned well but was too short to have the neck through the hood. The Stant cap was below the hood. I replaced it with an N radiator and sold the Ferguson radiator.

Are the radiator pads in place? I have used squares of inner tubes to make mine. I would try adding to the pads to raise the neck. or you could go to an old fashioned radiator shop and see if they could put a taller neck on it.

Think inner tube is what’s under the radiator now , am ordering the correct pads , seems to be a larger gap at top of fan than at the bottom ( distance between the fan and the shroud ) , so hopefully will gain me a little , thanks for the reply , will post with the outcome when parts come

Oops, gap is larger at bottom than top , that makes more sense , sorry

I usually cut myself some square pieces from the sidewall of an old radial tire (of course, you can double stack them if still not tall enough). Lay pieces on a block of wood and drill the holes for the bolts---works for me, Dennis

Can only come up so far and not hit the shroud, how tall is your radiator neck ? Mine is 2” from radiator body to top of neck ? Looks like some are configured differently, trying to get a rough idea, will drain my fuel tank and do a mock up soon .
