  • Looking For: Bob "Paladin" Johnston
  • We have some new info on the Moto-Tug, possibly a prototype or an original Mercury model. If anybody knows where Bob "Paladin" Johnston is please contact me. I have three emails and all seem to go thru -none bounce back. I also have mailing address but I think he has moved so may not be valid. We have a phone number but it just gets a busy signal all the time so we suspect it is not valid.

  • Hi Tim haven't heard from Bob in a while. Lost his current email with my computer crash. Can you please send it to me? Thanks, Kirk

  • About 10 years ago I posted a link here to a CL ad for two non-pressurized N radiators that were for sale about 35 miles north of me.
Paladin Bob contacted me and asked if I could help him get them as the seller would not ship.
I bought the radiators - got $20 knocked off the price for the pair, picked them up, found a suitable box and packing material and shipped them to him.
He did send me a check - for the exact amount of the parts plus shipping. But not an extra dime for a cup of coffee or even a thank you note with the check.
Yes, I expected to do it for free - in the spirit of keeping these old Fords running. But not even a thank you?
I decided then he would never again get any help from me.

  • At least you got your money. I sold most of my Ford Tractor stuff in November, much of it and a lot more tools and stuff to a guy who I thought was pretty decent. He drove a long way, even made two trips. I let him have some stuff on credit and said he could send me check later so he wouldn't have to make another trip. Numerous emails, txt msgs, and calls have gone unanswered. We often see posts especially from new guys asking for advice/help/part suppliers or with a problem and never hear back from them. Most will at least acknowledge the advice with a thank you or better yet a follow-up to see if they resolved their problem. I'm am not looking for a thank you and/or pat on the butt, realize a lot of guys just can't communicate well. The posts serves two purposes. First, immediate fresh info is seen by all, secondly, it gets saved in the archives so if someone later on wants to know the same problem, the old posts will come up within the archives. I wouldn't take it personally. Bob has always had numerous fires going, teaching HS and tractor restoring, amongst others, so he doesn't spend much time on the Internet.

  • Last time I spoke with Bob was a few years back. I sold him a 2N mower, he met him NJ, not far from his home just north on Philly. Not a word since. Retired school teacher if my memory is correct.
