First I want to say how grateful I am to John Smith and his information on replacing rear axle seals. My issue is my concern with the rear axle shaft gasket 8N-4284 and it's dimensions. The new aftermarket gaskets are rubber and 1/2 inch wide. The old one is cork and compressed to a tad under 7/16. My worry is that when I tighten down the hub it will press against the bearing and affect the preload. Is this a legitimate concern that I should account for? Thanks
