Tractor Museum
Over the past years I have bought a dozen or so NAA tractors (usually a late 50's 600 model) in about November and fix it up over the winter as something to do and sell it in March for usually what I have in it (or less, it is the fun of seeing one come back to life and be useful). Anyway, when my father died in 2013 I restored his 1956 Ford 640 to new condition with a full 100% teardown and paint (someone better than I painted it). Dad had bought the tractor in 1972 from the owner that had bought it in Osgood, Indiana in 1957. My mom has moved off of the farm and I have moved to town and I need to give it a good home. I really do not want to sell it, seems wrong. Is there a museum near Indiana that I can give it to or do you have another suggestion of what to do with it?

Re: Tractor Museum
Wendell, I have been looking for a Ford N series or 600 or 800 series for quite some time. I have been late to the party on a few, and so I have missed out. Even though it would be a drive for me to Indiana (hopefully western Indiana), I would love to own that 640. Tim Daley linked to my ad in his reply to this. But, I understand the desire to see it in a museum also.

Re: Tractor Museum
Do you have a family member who might be interested in it? Otherwise if you are in a tractor club or have friends that are, put the word out. It wouldnt be wrong to sell it to the right person. I have heard more and more in recent years where people want their tractor to go to a good home. I have a friend with a large collection of old tractors that has aquired several tractors this way, often at reasonable prices because he keeps them in a nice building and takes good care of them.

Re: Tractor Museum
We donated an antique rope bed to a museum. I wrote up a contract stating if they ever decided not to display it, it was to be returned to a family member. Don't know if it is enforceable but I tried! Have a one man cross cut saw I intend doing the same thing with.

Re: Tractor Museum
That is very generous. Be aware, museums reserve the right to display, trade or sell or also give away any donated items. If I can designate myself as a museum, can I have it? Sorry, could not resist.
