  • Fender question
  • I posted on the NBoard, but no replies.
When did the two rib fenders disappear?
I know of an original 1940 9N, mid 35000 serial
number that has single rib fenders.
Everything about this tractor says early 9N,
    just wondering about the fenders.
I believe the fenders are original.
Tractor displays a 1941 grill, not unusual
if the original aluminum grill damaged.

    Curious minds want to know.

  • I have 9N11003, It has double rib fenders with 7 rivits. A friend down the road has a very original 32" smooth axle around 9N18000...it has singe rib fenders. Bill Rippy has a very very original small gen 32" smooth axle and original aluminum grill around 9N20000...it has single rib fenders as does both my late 1940 9N38727 and 9N41481. Thanks, Jason Grooms

  • I had 9N28664. It had single rib fenders. You might be able to work backwards from there.

  • I bought a double rib fender from Jim Dodge and Marcy Ferrara who part tractors out up in NH. By engine serial number the tractor was about 50 numbers into 1940 production. But, stuff gets changed around. I also own two 1940's and both have single ribs.

  • According to most posted data it was in mid year 1940. I have not seen any official data to back this up.
