  • Mr. Harold Brock, the Ford Project Manager in charge of the 9N development effort, recently wrote an article about his memories from that period. Mr. Brock, now 91 and still a fan of the N-series tractors, is working with many folks like Don Barkley to record this information for historical purposes. The link below will open his article in MS Word:

  • I had been told by a local business man that there was over 300,000 N series tractors produced and that there are still in excess of 200,000 still in use today. (Where he got his imformation, I have no idea) Don't get me wrong. I have to believe him cause every where I go I see N series tractors. I own one and my Dad owns one. Can someone enlighten me on this? If these numbers are even close, that would be an amazing success story.

  • Hi Martin. Actually, there were more than a half-million N's manufactured. Here's a Technical Service Bulletin sent to Ford dealers from the factory support personnel that lists consecutive serial numbers for the N series and a little beyond to confirm this:

    Hope this helps............Ed

  • Funny this came up - I just finished the last pages of this book last night before bed. I got mine from Amazon, but I ordered it in January and did not get it until mid April. It is a special order item and you may experience delays like me, but Don B. got his pretty quick I hear.

The book is very nicely written, and gives a great insight on the three Ford's from a very unique perspective - from one who started as a teen and worked his way up to the top ranks under their guidance. I was really impressed with the book and highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates these great machines - and the vision and drive it took to make this a reality. It really was not at all about money to Henry Ford - he was a great humanitarian.

  • Thanks, Ed. Interesting and it dispels a few rumors. Great that Mr. Brock realizes the value of getting his experience and knowledge in print.
