There isn't any mention of the old Ford tractor in the article, but the July/August issue of the "New Holland News" magazine has an article on a fella that bales with his '49 NH Model 76 and Model 77 Balers. The Ford tractor appears to be an 800 or 900 Series. Just as important as the Ford Tractors are to farming history, so are the implememts that went with them. That's why when I take my 8N to shows or parades I always hitch a Dearborn implement to it so folks can see what was used back in the day. I encourage others to do the same.

Tim, the tractor is an 801.
Dan, New Holland was a seperate company for most of it's life. They built a lot of impliments but no tractors.
They bought out the Ford line of tractors in, I think 1999.

Ford bought New Holland in 1986 to add a line of implements, and sold to Fiat in 1991.

The caption says 1949 New Holland baler, my question is when did Ford start using the New Holland name, just courious I thought it was much latter.

Ok Just did my research... New Holland was founded in 1895. Ford took it over in 1986 and Fiat took it over in 91 if my sources are correct.

I know New Holland had to do away with the name "Ford" completely in like 2001 or something in that time frame.
