  • My Jubilee had Firestones on the rear and two rib Firestones on the front. Still have the original fronts but the rears are long gone.

  • I'm not sure of hte brand, but my dad boiught a Jube when it was 2 years old (I was also 2 at the time). My recollection of the rear tires was thet the thread pattern was a "Hook" like a "Check" mark. I assume that these tires were the ones that came with the Jube from the factory. I have never seen onther one or pictures of a Jube or other tractor with this type of shoe on it.
    Anyone els out there?

    Thanks

    Keith

  • As I recall BF Goodrich manufactured a tire that used the hook checkmark type tire. This is strictly from memory of tire advertisements shown in farm magazines, many years ago. I don't remember seeing any of these tires actually on a tractor.

  • Re: tires
  • Sorry if I mislead you Keith but what I was saying is that the same type Firestone was on our new 8N in 1950, not that the tires are new in 2006 on our old 1950 8N. There are some repops being made but they to my knowledge they are like a special purpose part tire with Ford script on them. Don't even know if they are like Firestones or not. DonB will be familiar with the new tires and will be able provide specific info and purchase details, give him a call.

  • Re: tires
  • Those were the most common original equipment Jube tires, yes they were the Firestones. I have photos of our new 1950 8N with that same Firestone "check mark" shoe tread.

  • Went to a Steam/gas engine show this week end. Several JD, Oliver, Farmall/IH and one Ford. It was a tired looking 8N and the owner was sitting on the seat enjoying the breeze, a smoke and the conversation. As I said this tractor looked pretty tired, it had a Sherman OU on it and one rear tire was the Goodrich "check mark" tire. I asked the guy where he found the tiren (it in no way looked as bad or old as the tractor). He said it came with the tratcor when he got it from his cousin who was the original ownwer and as far as he knew may have been the original tire.

  • Calvin:

I have a 1953 Golden Jubilee and was told that the rear tires were the original Firestones that came new on the tractor.

  • Ford and Firestone wintered and camped together with Edison in S. FL in the Model T days. Not much left of that connection decades later in 1953, especially since Ford was 5 going on 6 years deceased.
