  • 8N/Dearborn Grease Gun
  • I have a grease gun that is identical (including the Dearborn decal) to the one pictured in:

    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a379/ploughNman/tdaleygg004.jpg

On the pump hanle is engraved/stamped BALCRANK, INC, CINCINNATTI, OH. Does anyone know if Balcrank made these for Dearborn or if an authentic Dearborn gun would have been made by Dearborn and had Dearborn stamped on the handle instead. Balcrank is still in business, but they make high dollar commercial lube systems now.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I have tried to get more info off the original drawing I have on this, but to no avail. However, based on the pictures you sent me, I would have to say that YES, this is the same grease gun. Interesting. I will add the BALCRANK version to our saved article on grease guns.

  • Dearborn Grease Gun Ad
  • I looked at my original drawing of this grease gun, p/n 8N-17125 and do not see any vendor part number refernce on it like all the other drawings I have. So, it may be possible that what you say is true but let's see some pictures first and I will do some more investigating.

I don't think you have the Dearborn model. All Ford grease guns were made by outside vendors, Ford never made them. The Dearborn is made by Alemite Stewart/Warner Company. Earlier Ford Tractor grease guns were made by Alemite-Stewart/Warner; Lincoln; and ARO. I have the correct vendor model numbers that Ford sold under their part numbers, 170125 or 59C-17125 o rthe Dearborn number. many grease guns look close to the original Ford ones, but if the supplier model number doesn't match, it isn't a Ford item. Pictures will help further...
