  • 1940 9N I Think.
  • Hello all:

This is my first time posting. I have what I think is a 1940 9N according to the number on the engine block. I am however, not sure it is ALL 1940. Would this be the appropriate place to post some pics for help in positively identifying my machine?

  • Hi Bob-
You will get more views and replies if you post this on our regular N-BOARD forum. Our HOSTORY forum here doesn't really get a whole lot of traffic. Pictures by the hundreds are always a good idea. There's a specific method to post pictures here in your posts though, you just can't try to upload them directly. You must first store them at one of the picture hosting sites like photobucket or IMGUR then copy the url link from there and paste it in your message. There are instructions in our HOW-TO forum for picture uploading. 1940 saw numerous changes made to the 9N, most around s/n 12500 so best to read John Smith's document first and gather as much as you can from that.

  • Thanks for the info. This was my first time posting so I want 100% sure the History board was right so I posted over on the N Board too and had lots of response; particularly recommendations for the John Smith site. My question was more than answered. The Smith site is amazing and this forum is loaded with bright folks. I hope to be able to contribute some of my general mechanical and historical research ability to the club.
