  • Headlight "Wings" for a 2N
  • I continue to buy stuff on E-Bay for the restoration of my recently acquired 2N. I appear to have gotten some good deals and some not-so-good. Anyway, I am getting closer and closer to having all the missing stuff replaced.

I picked up a pair of CAST IRON headlight wings that the seller said were from an early 9N. I did not pay a whole lot for them.

Arew these correct for a 1945 vintage 2N and, if not, when did Ford use cast iron wings on the tractor headlights?

  • Paladin:
I think all 9N and 2N's had the cast wing head light brackets and were not cast iron but either cast aluminum or white metal. 8N's used the round socket button to secure the head light ball.

  • The early 8N's used the winged brackets too! My 47 [really a 48 per ZANE]:-) uses the winged ones. By that time, I think they were cast aluminum or some other pot metal. The early ones for the 2's and 9's were cast iron I think.

  • I think the seller is right. If not mistaken, the first 'wings" were cast iron and then they went to the cast aluminum.Look on the back side and see if the part number [9n 13472 or 9n13473]is stamped on them. don b
