  • Are there two different distributors?
  • The distributor Bob sent me (I'll call it A) is a little different than the distributor that is on my 9N (call it B). Notice the red circle around that bulge, it goes all the way around the base. B is flat. The blue circle's are where there should be two breathers or drains. A has the place for them but they are blank. B has a circle with the number 3 cast into the back of it and no part number. A has a circle with the number 2 and the part number 9N12131 cast into it. My 1942 Price guide does not show this part number and the 1946 parts manual shows the base part number as 9N12139.

Is this something I need to worry about or should I just cross my fingers and hope she runs when I put it on?

  • Now that you mention it the one I'm looking at right now is cast aluminum.

  • Dan,
There must have been two castings, mine does not have the breathers and it works fine. I'd go for it. Just my opinion, and I'm no specialist.

  • The plan is to put this distributor on in the morining. I've got it all cleaned up with new points and condesor, timed and gapped ready to go. I figure I've got about 15 minutes to get this on before my fingers freeze so I'll be rushing.

    Cross your fingers.
