1949 TSB - changes made to the 8N tractor
Thanks to Dan Mayer (DanNYC), I am in the process of scanning Ford Technical Service Bulletins from 1949-1952. Here's an interesting 4-pager from October 19, 1949 that details changes made to the 8N during the year:

Re: 1949 TSB - changes made to the 8N tractor
Hey, wait just a dog-gone minute! How can they make a change at s/n 217307 on Sept 1 and then make another change at s/n 216989 the NEXT DAY (Sept 2)? Do serial numbers go backwards? Hmmm......

Re: 1949 TSB - changes made to the 8N tractor
Thanks Dan and Ed for adding. I'm not convinced it took the Ford engineers 10 years to figure out they needed 3 holes in the 585 rocker. I still tend to believe this came out of the court findings that a change had to be made to the 3 point hitch. But I suppose if this was the case Ford could not put that in a service bulletin.

kelly.....according to a re-print of an ad[shown in one of PRIPPS books]Ford had published, there was two things that Ford had to change on the tractors because of the lawsuit, the long 486 pin and the hyd.pump.These were to be changed by 12-31-52. don b
