6volt coil + or - to dist
I have a new 6 volt coil? Is it + to the dist and the - to battery?

Is the opposite true with 12 volt coil. Negetive ground, Negative to Points?

It's not the voltage of the battery but rather a positive or negative ground. If the battery has a negative ground then you would wire the negative post on the coil to the distributor. If the battery has a positive ground then run the wire from positive coil post to the distributor.
