  • On the ROAD again!!!!!
  • Well the dispatch job didn't work out,(12 hours setting at a desk with 2 computers). So since the Doctors released me with NO restrictions ( only limitations is my physical abilities since surgery). The company has let me go back in the trucks but only part time, 4 days per week, still that's 50 to 60 hours. And pay is much better I actually feel like I'm a productive human being again, I'm only 68 not ready to turn in my keys yet. God Bless, Beth and Allen.

  • Re: On the ROAD again!!!!! Funny follow up
  • 1st thank everyone for their good wishes. But something kinda funny happened on this, Since I've been off the trucks for almost a year and the severity of my surgery and the fact that I haul hazmat, gasoline, diesel ethanol, bio diesel and Butane the boss said he was going to put a driver trainer out with me for 2 or 3 days to make sure I could still do the job and do it safely. First day I had to stop by our other terminal and pick up the man from the safety dept.( driver trainer).I took him over to the Gulf oil refinery where I was to load my 1st of 3 loads for the day,I loaded 2000 gallons of premium and 7000 gallons of regular and took it to a customer. After the man watched me unload we then headed to the Exxon/Mobil refinery for my next load. On the way there the driver trainer says"I knew this was going to be a waste of my time, take me back to the terminal".Then he says I'm 43 years old You've been doing this for 41 years and they have me checking on you, what is wrong with this picture? I have more important thing to do than ride around with a driver that should be training me.So I didn't have someone nursemaiding for the next 2 or 3 days, that didn't break my heart. hope you all see the humor in that. God bless, Beth and Allen.

  • That put a smile on my face! Some things are just plain silly!

Keep trucking! I'm 86 and not willing to lay down yet! Forced into retirement at 73!

  • That brought a tear to me eye from laughing and knowing your doing something that you like to do. Keep swinging! Oh! You uh, could..... always stop off at the boss and tell him you could to be a driver trainer part time... He ought'a enjoy that.
