  • I am in need of a gas engine for my log splitter there was a 11hp briggs and stratton on the splitter I am leaning towards a electric start engine I've been looking any where from $300-$800 to replace what I had I am familiar with honda engines we used them on the farm when I was a kid but at $800 ouch then I came across a duro max on ebay for $300 but never heard of them any ideas on which way to turn where to purchase what brands to stay away from

  • Honda motors are hard to beat for reliability and longjevity. You can buy them at northern tool or on amazon. The DuroMax is hard to beat the price, but only time will tell. The honda of the same size will cost twice as much.

  • The small engine repair place next to me says Honda has cheapened their product in the last two years on several models.

  • Check the wide selection of engines offered by Harbor Freight. I've purchased a few and they are a great buy. Harbor Freight offers a 20% discount coupon most of the time with their sale brochures.

  • The Duro Max 16 hp electric start & free shipping looks like a good choice at $299.

I have one but haven't put it in service yet.
