Well, after 4 rounds of chemo and the prayers from you wonderful people and I thank you again, the last cat scan with contrast results came back with a report from the radiologist. He stated the tumor was 1/2 the original size and it appeared there were two more that had begun to grow. That was since the end of last week.
The oncology doctor called this afternoon and said that the tumor appears to be stone dead due to the blood indicators being as good as they are and as for the other two "tumors", they were a result of bleed out from the biopsy that was done on me.
As for the removal of the dead tumor, That is now being discussed with a surgeon or three as to how and when. The wife is pushing for September so we can play this summer. The oncology Dr said he would go along with the wife's delay as long as I went in for monthly blood work ups to see if the numbers go catywhumpus again. That would mandate immediate surgery.
So, This morning I thought I was going. Tonight, I am staying...
Now I just get to look forward to doing the Veg-O-Matic Slice and Dice.
I might loose the right kidney in that routine. Don't know and won't know until opening day.
Went back to work today. Still full of pith and vinegar. Those poor guys down there even said they missed me. Naturally I had to say, "Like the plague, I understand."
They were impressed that I showed up. I was more impressed when the Dr called and said I wasn't doing the final shuffle.
Guess I made the right decision not to get busy gathering things together for final call.
Thank you God!! Thank you again one and all for your prayers!!

  • That is great news, Bruce. An answer to prayer, but - uh I think I'll continue to pray for a little longer!

  • Not trying to contradict your wife but I would do the Slice and Dice and get that thing out of there as soon as possible. Why take chances...JMHO

  • The Dr wanted to wait about 2 months. She desires to play this summer and convinced the Dr to wait until Sept. He agreed as long as the numbers stay low. Should the blood numbers go up, it will no longer be up for debate. I feel great and no problems. 4-1/2 months to get sliced open? Yeah, I can wait. One surgeon is already making noises about taking the right kidney. The kidney surgeon will be on tap and a vascular surgeon? Yeah. I can delay three cutters taking slices outa me. The chemo effects will take 6 months to get out of the system. Maybe by that time this tumor will have shrunk even more. I have another cat scan with contrast before the slicing time and that will be the final tell.
