  • Comedians?, Yeah right.
  • Wouldn't it be something today if there was a comedian out there that was actually funny? Instead you are more likely to see a person masquerading as a comedian who is actually a snide, narcissistic, rude and obnoxious yobo. They're just not funny are they? In my opinion, we need far fewer "comedians" and "celebrities". The world would be a better place for sure.
    Rant over.

  • The last funny guy I can remember was Tim the tool man, but his best days were near 20 years ago. Around that same era Jim Carrey or Robin Williams could the best physical comedy since Jerry Lewis. No one anywhere on the horizon like them.

Carson retired just a few years before that, these hosts today don't share anything in common with him. Leno was the closest substitute, but I think he got tired of it 10 years before he left the show.

Sitcoms have left me behind too. I'd rather watch reruns of Cheers, Seinfeld, or Fraser.

  • I've made note watching all three major network late night TV show hosts who "think" they are comedians, but all are so far from that status it ain't funny; (all they get off to is spearing Trump)! In my opinion, Jay Leno was the last host who could be funny when he wanted to be, but there will never be another Johnny Carson - not only a true comedian, but an even funnier game show host.

  • It is only natural for comedians to poke at the president but nothing like the way they are all going after Trump -every other 'joke' is aimed at him...

  • Hey Larry, Just the guy I wanted to visit with. I was wondering what the damages were from the twisters or storms that took place there last couple days. I was hoping you all were safe. You folks survive unharmed okay?

  • We were fortunate here in the southern part (greater Houston area) of the state as those storms passed through the area east of Dallas leaving a devastating path of destruction. That particular area is well known for the many trailer manufacturing company's located throughout; (the type trailers fellows like us use to transport our tractors on, one of which I have out back, a 26' gooseneck).

  • Re: Comedians?, Yeah right.
  • You're absolutely correct. Snide and aimed at what would be considered normal life in America.
Some of the "comedians" never tell a joke but give part of a sentence and end with "you know what I mean?"

No real twists, no surprises and certainly no humor.

    My kind of joke:
90 year old farmer goes to the banker for a loan to buy land. The banker has some concerns due to the old codgers age.
"What happens if you die before the loan is paid off?" The banker asks.
"I'll send you a check from heavan, because God would want all my obligations taken care of," The old farmer answered.
"But what if you go the other direction?" the banker queried.
"Then I'll deliver it to you in person."

  • Re: Comedians?, Yeah right.
  • You are right, good ones are getting harder to find. Mainly because the mainstream media controls who gets to see what. Good ones are out there we just don't get to see them for free any more.
Eddy Murphy dropped out of sighT, but is one of the funniest in my opinion. Steve Martin, sometimes Martin Short, but less and less for some reason. Gallager is still out there I think.
Byron Allen has a late night show where he has 4 or 5 comedians on at once with a sort of round table activity. Some on there are pretty funny.
But your point is well taken, there are few really good stand ups or stand outs because the media controls who we see on a regular basis. Once in a while I see some one really good, then never see them again...

  • Touché The millenials have no clue what humor is. I recall as a teen in the 70's my friends ranting how funny Richard Pryor and Red Foxx were and I couldn't agree. Every other word was Mo-Fo. Same with Chris Rock and a few others today. Even Saturday Night Live is pathetic -has been since the 2nd team left. Don't get me started on the talentless Baldwin brothers, Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, Schumer, et al either. The libtard media only promotes the ones that bash President Trump and all of his regime. Meanwhile, the real talented ones who don't have to use profanity -Tim Allen, Ray Romano, et al get swept under the rug.
