  • Got me a new cell phone
  • All Iíve ever had was tracfone(Buy your minutes) no contract. After my flip phone conked out 3 years ago, I was going to go with a Verizion contract because I didnít get good signal from the farm , but my hunting buddy could, because he was with Verizon. Then my wife saw where Tracfone smartfones used Verizon towers. I went with an El cheapo smart phone from Tracfone ($35.00)..triple minutes for lifer. It did everything I needed it to do, good signal from the farm. But, it gradually got slower because it was always updating programs, and the memory was near capacity always telling to get rid of some apps so it could upgrade. I talked to my son ( the computer guru) and he said go to (Swappa) and get Samsung Galaxay S7Öhe said it has the best camera of all the cells. I went there and got one, mint condition, in the box with all accessories (unlocked) (meaning you can use any carrier) for half of what Best Buy wanted. Got it activated today and all my contacts moved over from the old phone and I am now living in the 21st century. Iím still on the Tracfone planÖbuy minutes and data as I need themÖI donít talk too much but am looking forward to getting some good deer pictures this year. Just wanted to say it was a good day.

  • I have Tracfone as well and it works for me. Depending on the make and model of phone, you can either get a GSM (AT&T Towers) or a CDMA (Verizon Towers) phone. Your signal depends on the towers in your area. I had a GSM phone and could call from anywhere. I purchased a larger, better camera, CDMA phone at the beginning of the year. It used the CDMA technology. Very poor signal and couldn't call anywhere like I could with my old phone. Tracfone guys said it was due to the towers in my area. So I sold the phone on Ebay and kept the minutes that came with the new phone. I'm back using the old phone and will get a newer, larger, GSM phone when the years worth of service is up next year.

    FWIW,

  • We did a similar thing. Our son recomended the Samsung Galaxy J7 from Amazon they are $200 and will do anything you want and take great pictures. The unlocked phones can be used with any service. They work great...

  • I use my wife's cell phone - to take pictures. I don't have one. Her's is an old iphone that is literally falling apart. you have to pick it up carefully because the cover is so ragged. My phone still hangs by the door in my shop. Just can't bring myself to getting a cell phone. If we start traveling more, I might have to come into the modern day and age.

  • Well done.
My new phone is a Samsung something. I left my previous phone in the airport in Auckland NZ.
Bell said they would not give me a free phone when my contract renews, unless I paid more money. So I bit it, and bought my own phone, which I can shop for rates if need be.

And the pics are good, and you can store millions of them. My contacts magically appeared to. They were probably backed up to Google using my email address. But I lost a bunch of memos and some photos.
