  • Every time I put something on Craigslist I say never again. Few months back I picked up a little truck and it turned out didn't want to keep it, so I put it on Craigslist. Then it all started low balls without ever seeing the truck.others asking for more information than you would ask for a $25000 truck .Did I say I was only asking $800 4wd and western plow ,I had it on the road driving it.A man and his son show up this afternoon with a trailer he started playing hardball telling me all that was wrong with the truck like he wasn't going to buy it heck he wouldn't have brought the trailer. He bought it for the asking price. Craigslist brings out some different folks .

  • I posted an old 9n tractor for sale on craigslist earlier this year. It didn't take long before I got a phone call from a man wanting to see it. I told him to come on out. An elderly gentleman arrived about 30 minutes later and I met him outside. He talked about different things on the tractor, asked a bunch of questions, and eventually we found out that we knew a lot of the same people. Pretty soon he told me that he didn't need a tractor nor had the money. He just likes tractors. His wife had passed away a couple of months earlier and he was lonely and just wanted to come look at the tractor and hopefully engage in some conversation. I told him that supper would be ready soon and he should join us. He did. We had a great conversation that night and still keep in touch with each other today. The best non sale I ever had.

  • Figure out what you want for your item and listed it with the word firm.if it don't sell you can listed it again with a lower price.

  • I have had so many people that want to buy sight unseen for there Brother or Cousin as a Gift. The broken English is a dead give away. I did have one guy that wanted to buy a Motorcycle I had. We traded emails for a while and then he just quit answering my email. I sent one more and told him if he didn't what the bike I would understand but would like some kind of final response. He replied that His Credit card was full and he was sorry for My inconvenience. But I have had several sales that went very well, so I still use Craig's list but cautiously. I haven't sold anything that got Full Price. I don't care if you drop the price $10.00 as long as they don't pay full price.

  • Craigslist can be entertaining waiting for the no shows. I have my own game I play with silly people. I had a brush hog for sale once. I think it was listed for $400.
One guy was headed out to have a look and another guy called offering more money. First guy showed up, made his low ball offer and I counter offered with the higher amount. He balked, got red and dang near ran off, I called the second guy and shortly after it was gone.
Next time a guy calls on an item and we talk...Shortly later he calls again and I get his name wrong intentionally, "Oh, Bob! I thought this was Dan..."
Now Bob thinks that Dan is going to beat him out to a good deal.
Items are brought to the front of the property. I don't need you walking all over scouting out other items. KMA.
If I get a few calls before the first guy shows up, I get pretty firm on price real quick. If the first guy shows up and low balls it, go chase yourself mac.
Season makes a difference also. A tractor in spring is worth more that a tractor in winter. Paint helps a lot. People buy shiny. Shiny sells real good. Red is shiny. Wanna sell that Ford tractor? Paint it backwards like a fergy with red sheet metal.
Yep. Craigslist can be entertaining. . . .
