  • New Laptop and WIN 7 Pro instead of WIN 10
  • My 5 yr old HP ENVY keyboard is acting up. It came with WIN 8. I never liked WIN 8, so I loaded WIN 7 Pro with no problems. Thinking about buying a new HP Laptop. Problem: They all now come with WIN 10. I still have the WIN 7 PRO disk. I am trying to find out if this is possible. When I Google, all of the answers assume I stepped up from 7 to 10 and now want to step back to 7 and they say I must find certain drivers that may not be available.

What I really want is to wipe clean the 10 and fresh load the 7. Why is this not possible?? Aren't the necessary drivers on the 7 installation disk?

Before I do this, I may make 10 back up disks, just in case I want to go back later to 10.

  • Sounds like what I wanted to do, did not. 10 is it even though we liked earlier versions better. Once you learn to live with it isn't so bad after all. As stated below other systems are already obsolete.

  • The drivers they are referring to are for the chipset and processor, they are not available for the new chipsets and processors in windows 7. Microsoft dropped mainline support for 7 in 2015
