  • I bought a Dewalt 18v combo package 2 years ago, drill, grinder and screw gun. I have been very happy with it so far. The batteries conked out 2 weeks ago, so I went to where I bought it(Lowes) and found some batteries. When I told the rep in the tool department that I was no satisfied with the original batteries that I thought they should last more that just 2 years. He said that the original batteries the (Black ones)that came with the set are indeed inferior batteries and the yellow ones I was getting for $99.00 for two, were much better batteries and should last a long time. He said to charge the batteries for just 1 hour and then to remove them from the charger, so I will try that on the new batteries. hth Roby

  • I have an older 1/2" (13MM) 18V CORDLESS Dewalt XRP HAMMERDRILL/DRILL/DRIVER . It has been nice. lost the brake on it though. Not sure what failed but replaced the switch and still no brake. This drill cost some pesos but it has been a good drill for several years now.

My son gave me a DEWALT 18-Volt Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) 1/2-in Cordless Drill that I don't like so much. It shoots out some fine dust out of a hole on top of the handle when you use it and it can shoot it into your eyes. It smells too like ozone when it runs. The batteries are both bad so they don't take a good charge. Not my favorite tool. I'd have to recommend staying away from the cheaper models in the Dewalt line.

  • I got the whole De Walt set a few years ago for Christmas. Absolutely love all of them, drill, saws, impact, grinders flashlight etc. Very durable, every one of high quality. Same story, batteries go bad and original replacement battery is about $100. Didn't want to spend $200 for two new ones so right there on flea bay, knockoff replacement from cheena for just $25. Brought one for trial and much to my surprise it works at least as well as the originals. Bought another and everything is up and running strong again. De Walt is a good choice, check replacement battery availability for your model.

  • Dewalt DCD771C2.
Bought it on Amazon for $99. Works great light but strong with lots of torque. Also has a light which is nice. Came with 2 batterys and charger. Also bought the add on 45 piece bit set for $9.55.
I am happy with it, works great and batteries last a long time. Also came with a carry bag which is also nice. Hard to beat it.

  • I got one of the Dewalt 20 volt recip saws and am very happy with the saw and the battery performance.

It is a nice tool and the new batteries are much lighter than the old nicads.

I think you will like it.
