  • Our house passed !!
    No more asbestos !!
In the pics you can see what I had to do to prove the Asbestos was gone, Had to remove the chimney, 2 roofs, gut the complete house, also removed the pool and deck

  • Good news, can't believe you had to jump through all those hoops. Nice to get over that hurdle and move on. Good luck!

  • ......now the structure could certainly be rebuilt under most any adopted building code(s) - I've not only seen, but personally performed the inspections along the way on much worse than what you have there Dave, and those have all turned out even better than before the fire.

  • Could this house be rebuilt??, Yes IMO
"BUT" The things I didn't point out about this house is 1st.............It's a $h!t Hole!, The house was built late 1800's and the workmanship is atrocious !, Worst that I've ever seen in an old structure of this vintage, Rooms not damaged by the fire needed major attention, The car port was putting so much pressure on the end wall that the wall over time pushed in a good 5" at the top, Foundation needed major, major work.
One could say that back in the day that's just how they built things, I say non sense, Square is square, Level is level, Plumb is plumb.
On the other hand keep in mind - No skill saws, no air nailers........Everything done by hand !!
    Crazy

  • Well Dave, you could always demolish it and salvage the old lumber that is still good to build yourself a new stand-alone home, or once again and a different and or better idea that I suggested earlier, add on to the steel building/barn/shop/shed and then build out the interior of the addition as a new home using the old wood - it'd look very nice inside!

  • Your house really has some great bones, hate that you had to strip it out. When was it originally built?

We have the old original house on our farm, but it's in disrepair & I don't have the $$ to bring it back. It was originally built in the 1870's & added onto 3 or 4 times up into the 1960's.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless you, what a job. That is one of my worst fears is a house fire. Are you doing all the work, or do you have help or a contractor? In a way I"m hoping you are doing it yourself because if it were me I would want to do it just for the satisfaction of saying the fire may have damaged our home but it didn't get any of us and I'm going to thumb my nose at the fire and show I will overcome this. You are in my Prayers. God Bless, Beth and Allen.
