  • Jeep Cherokee Key Fob
  • Model year 2016 Grand Cherokee 'bout to strain my last nerve. Overall a pretty nice
car. Gets good mileage and drives great. HOWEVER- slightest pressure on buttons on
    key fob initiates intended purpose.
Came out of restaurant the other day- back hatch open!
Sitting at my desk 50 feet away and down one level and alarm goes off.
In the kitchen yesterday and wife comes in- "why is Jeep running"?
These are regular, several times a week occurrences!
Dealer says- "don't carry key fob in pants pocket".
Anyone else having this much fun? Any solutions? (A leather condom for the key fob
    comes to mind).
Not carrying my car key in my pocket after 50 plus years just doesn't seem right.
    Thoughts/ideas appreciated.

  • I just keep mine in my shirt pocket. My shirts all have button pockets, so there's no chance it will fall out. Problem solved.

  • Here's a thought:

Throw the Fob in the dresser drawer and use the Key which has been very dependable for years. The key will lock and unlock on command, and it does nothing in your pocket but lay there. My truck came with one but I have never used it and it's never let me down. The tractor guys that I know of have never upgraded there N's to use remote start or an alarm system from a Fob that I know of. Why is it that we have to have the newest hi tech toys and complain about them from the word go? What's the purpose of keeping the N's working? There's simple, and dependable. I know this has nothing to do with answering your question and I hope you figure out some kind of answer.

    Have a Great Day

  • Pull key out, throw key and fob on front floor. Do not lock door.

  • I clip my keys to my holster. Too many of them to fit in my pocket anyway. Once in a while I'll sit on them and set off the alarm but not very often.

  • I clipped my Chrystler key fob to a small carabiner and hook it to my right side belt loop just above my pocket. Works like a champ.

  • I too have had many such fobs and none ever failed to function properly, even with vehicles well over 100,000 miles. New fob may be in order, get one at a good key shop or dealer, check it out.
