My sister has a small ranch west of Ft. Worth and during a heavy storm last week she sent me this pic and said her Bobcat lights had come on following a nearby lightning strike. You can see the Bobcat behind the old pickup. All other power was out to the whole place already from lightning and wind. I assumed an electrical surge had closed a relay or such on the Bobcat because lightning had hit the ground about 100 yards away.
So the storm let up an hour later and her ranch hand went out to check it out. The light switch had no effect. He is a pretty good mechanic and he found the fuse box half full of water from the horizontal rain and 60 mph wind. The water had shorted the lights to battery I guess and the lightning strike was coincidental? He dried out the box and 2 days later all was good except heat gauge stays pegged out. All kinda strange.
The storm took down some weak trees and part of her back porch, and she got 3.5" rain in less than 3 hours.

  • The Bobcat looks like Killdozer peeping over the top of that 66 Chevy Custom Cab Fleetside. SoS.

  • I haven't seen Killdozer in movie of the week from back in the 70's, but I loved all that heavy equipment.
