  • Potato Gun test results
  • The clear potato gun is a hit. Load bang, big flash of light, moderate recoil. I need to find a way to host a video but in the mean time here is a still shot of the ignition. I used an old school flint igniter for a coleman lantern.

  • Note how close thr family jewels are to the fire if the combustion chamber blows up.Hair spray will remove hair and eye sight.

  • I viewed the video with my wife and told her I've got to build one of these. She said "you'll shoot your eye out".

  • Just remind her that the barrel is 2" I.D. so the potato would be too big around to poke your eye out. Would hurt really bad but you would be ok. LOL

  • I think you need to do some testing/experimenting with different potatoes too. Sweet, Idaho, Russet, Reds, Whites, Bakers et al...

  • I was surprised at the amount of fire form this thing. Now I know why guys don't use hairspray, we would all be blowed up by now LOL.

  • Not Using Hair Spray?
  • What do you use for propellent? How's the accuracy, or are you just lobbing them in, like a mortar?

  • Re: Not Using Hair Spray?
  • Using Aquanet hairspray. Spray and count to 4 put cap on quick. Need to play with it to see if 5 seconds or 3 seconds works better. Has a nice sharp report and fair amount of kick to it, I'm guessing my tatters are getting 200 yards at 300fps. Need to break down and by a chronograph. No real way to aim it but I a car at 50 yards with it.
