  • My New England Tour
  • I just got back from a fall foliage tour of New England, MA, NH, ME, VT, CT, RI. We didn’t see much change. I think we were about a week early..or was it a week late…or was it a dry season this year or too much rain, or was it some years they just don’t change at the same time.. I heard all the reasons and probably most true. Anyway, I just wanted to write and say what a beautiful countryside you all have. I looked for hours at the mountains and valleys the small streams and big rivers the fields and the crops. I say it again that part of the country is just beautiful. During the winter and I see you guys with the plows hooked up to the N’s and pushing snow and some gripping about this white…stuff, I always say “Heck just move down south where do don’t have to put up with that stuff”. Now I see why you don’t, because when it’s not cold, miserable and snowy it beautiful. Just like down here, get past the July and August heat and its paradise. I just wanted to pass on my thoughts of New England…a great place to live ..I’m sure. Roby

  • Wont be much color this fall.Very dry this summer.Neigbors cherry trees lost thier leaves in August.A big horse chestnut tree lost all it leaves. My sugar maple has small leaves and seeds.Ash trees shed early. Not a good year for leaf peeping. Many trees dropped leaves in july.

  • I'm near Philny and the leaves are just starting to change here also. Roby-Ga, as long as it's not 40-50 below (been there-done that) those cold, snowy days are beautiful. Nothing like a walk on a nice cool, brisk day.... Other than the taxes and our A$$hole governor, I love it right where I live.. I've been almost all over these United States and the only other place I might move to would be Montana. JMHO

  • I strongly suggest you go! Also make the trip at least one way, preferable northbound, by road. The Canadian Rockies put anything we have to shame. I've driven it round trip twice and would leave tomorrow if the wife would ride along. The inland passage is another nice way to make the trip.

  • The step son while going to Georga Tech said when they got flurries in the air, not
enough snow to get his shoes wet. And the city was shut down. They would take lawn chairs out and watch the accidents.

  • Many years ago my mother went to your state to visit her brother (I don't remember the year or month} and while there they got 2 inches of snow and it just shut down everything. Being from Maine where that is just a dusting she found it kind of amusing.

  • Mark,,,we shut things down on purpose,,It's called snow days and we get a few holidays.Don't care if they're paid or not.Just holidays.Chance to go hunting or maybe just sit close to the "far" and look at the pretty countryside.
