  • New technoligy
  • Would you buy a new vehicle and after you bought it you had to take it
someplace to have a engine and transmission installed?
That is what you get now when you buy a new computer with windows 10
Only the barest essentials are installed, Enough for it to phone home for
more apps. The same with the software you buy now. And naturally they try
to sell you some more of what should have been previously installed when
    you bought it.

  • Tons of programs
  • I have Windows 10 on one computer and have no problem putting software on it. I have LibreOffice that is FREE. It reads and writes MicroSoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. I have GIMP which is a photo editing program as powerful as Adobe Photoshop. and it's FREE too. For editing sound files I have Audacity which can record sounds from a Youtube video and then create a wav file or an MP3 file, it too is free.
There are simpler photo editing programs such as that edit images and it's free too. There are video players such as VLC or JET which are both free to play video's and there is Handbrake that will convert a video to MP4.
All of these are on my Windows 10 computer along with many others and they run just fine.
Each one has been scanned after download to make certain it's virus free prior to installing.
I also have AVG free anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-virus which are both free to check and protect along side of the Microsoft Defender which is pretty good.
To search for free programs I use Google and search thus: open source paint program.
That weeds out the trial versions or look for the ones I just mentioned.

  • its not easy but you can still buy a new computer with windows 7 Pro installed on it. Got my girl friend one last week. Check tiger direct and a few others like them, you should be able to find something that will make you happy. Stay away from Dell and the other cookie cutter brands they only do windows 10

  • Even worse, a lot of the software I use cannot be purchased outright anymore. You have to pay a monthly or yearly fee. This is one reason I keep my older computer and software. I hate recurring costs that won't go away. That is why I hate taxes and insurance...

precisely why I don't have TV via a dish subscription ever again. Ever try to get shy of them?
