  • What's the big deal with the 6.5 Creedmore? Every gun sale that's going on right now offers the 308 Win. and the 6.5 Creedmore. I don't know anything about the 6.5 Creed. is it a 300mag. necked down. I guess if your into long range shooting it would be handy, do any of you guys have one?

  • It is the 30TC necked to .264 also known as 6.5MM. The case is slightly larger than a 250 Savage case and slightly smaller than a 308 case. The case size is about optimum for the bore size and the 6.5 bullet is quite efficient at cutting through the air. At 500 yards the bullet from the Creedmoor will often exceed the speed of a bullet of another caliber that started out a few hundred feet faster.

So, it is an easily shootable cartridge due to low recoil and has higher down range energy than many higher recoil cartridges. I too question whether it will last. It is slower than the 260 Remington, but more efficient and inherently more accurate. The 260 has a following, but the round has never gained popularity. It uses the 308 ccase.

  • how many of you guys have heard of or own a 356 Winchester? I bought one years ago and it has a lever action and shoots 200 and 250 grain bullets. they no longer make ammo for it but one can handload. Has good ballistics and I loved it back when I hunted.

  • I know a couple guys that have the 6.5 and they all like it.
And we all agree it won't do anything you can't do with a 300mag.
and I can't see much past the range of a .308win any way.
My personal opinion is its an over priced wild cat round that is currently just a fad and will end up on the back shelf with your beta vcr tapes.
