  • Enough's enough guys - white stuff that is as 3" of it fell here overnight and I'm only 40 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico, so please place a recall for it right away. Us folks this far south simply aren't used to any amounts of snow! Here I was only last Friday out back at the shop working on one of my many projects wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt in 80 degree weather; (temp actually got down to freezing here overnight, but has really risen up now to a warm and overcast sky of 44 degrees - yeah, right!). I'll e-mail some photos to Ed and Tim shortly in hopes they'll be able to post 'em as you fella's won't believe what you see.

Horizon's looking good however as the mid 60's and bright sunshine is forecast for this afternoon.

  • Looks good!

We're still looking at green grass in Iowa! Not hearing any chance of a white Christmas. It is cold though. Right around freezing but we did have 14 the other morning.

  • Here I sit way up north less than 20 miles to Canadian border we have just a dusting of snow some places have none while east of Lake Ontario they get pounded in bands of what they call lake effect snow storms caused by cold air passed over the open lake water

  • Just started to snow here about an hour ago. It is very unusual for us to get the cold air circulating here from the SOUTH. No one here knows how to drive in the snow either. The entire area will shut down over an inch or two. And rightfully so...
So keep your snow in TEXAS... lol...

  • They don't know how to drive in the snow here in Michigan either. 1 hour after our first snow fall of the year and there is a 32 car pile up on I94. Guess they are right you can not fix stupid. I'll stay in the house, drink another shot and listen to another traffic report LOL

  • Yeah, Dan. I've lived all my life in Michigan and have never understood the crash phenomena with our first snow every year.

  • just took the kids out doing donuts last night. Son is a pro at drifting (age 20). People might think it's childish but he knows how to drive in the snow! No wrecks or in the ditch so far... I think my training is working.

16 year old Daughter's first lesson was last night. She did great. Must have been those years in the hopped up barbie jeep that did that. (15 mph on plastic tires are good for drifting).

Both have been driving stick shift trucks on the roads from 12 years old on. I say get them out early and teach them right. It beats having them in the ditch or wrecked somewhere.

I saw post of when to start the grand kids driving the tractor??? as soon as they can reach the clutch peddle i say.

  • Wow! The jet stream is way far south. No wonder we are not getting any moisture now. Doesn't look like we have any coming our way for some to come either. Not good.

  • This will be the first year I did not ask for snow. I am retired now and have literally nothing to do. You can send that snow back up here, I can use it to cover the leaves I didn't rake in the fall LOL.

  • Well Dan, I'd gladly send it all back buddy in a New York minute, and don't get me wrong, the snow was very scenic to view early today, but the sun is now out and all but a small cup full of the white stuff out on the picnic table has melted and gone into the ground. Now if the dang temperature will warm back up from the low 40's they're still at, I'll not only be a very happy camper, but my joints might start working again, ha!

  • In 2008 when I was down in DFW at Bell Helicopter, the guys there told me it gets to be 105 F for days on end in the summer. They then said in winter months they'll get an occasional snowfall, maybe 2-3 inches, but it is just enough to shut down the cities for the day since no municipality nor citizen owns a snow plow or snow shovel. Driving is a trip...
