  • Snow
  • Didn't blow out the driveway yesterday (dumb) because we went to my son's house for Christmas. Got up today with about 2 feet of snow and not enough gas for the blower (dumb again). Just finished at about 1 o'clock, my driveway is 2 tenths of a mile long with three larger areas. Slow going with that much snow. Time for a shot and a Blue Light..

  • We have about 6" on the ground right now and -4. I like plowing snow but my lungs just can not do this cold air anymore.

  • This morning we had -28*,now we have a tropical heat wave at -13*. Not suppose to get much above 0* for the next week.

  • Dan,some years back my cardioligest had a serious talk with me about my heart condition and told me to "never" go out in cold weather without a good mask over my mouth & nose because of this condition. He said cold air on the lungs can, could, and would bring on a heart attack.I always use the heavy paper mask now if the temp drops below 50deg.Just thought I would pass this along as a precaution.Take care fella.

  • Thanks Charles. My lung doc said the same thing "wear a mask" I reminded him that I have trouble breathing and the paper mask will add a 30% restriction to my air intake. He agreed and said to keep my fuzzy butt in the house LOL

  • I just finished my version of a rusty nail: 50% JW Black, 50% Drambuie, splash of water all on ice. Mmmmmm! My wife refused to buy me some Blue, $200 a bottle. That is sipping scotch.

  • Dan, you know the next question. How does your lung doctor know you have a fuzzy butt? LOL

  • Fella's, I feel for you with all the problems the snow brings. My advice to you is do as Farmer & Tim do,,,,hybernate with the food and beverages that soothes the beast in you.Books and computors will help occupy the time till all is well. Here in the southern sandhills of N.C we don't get much. How wonderful.I use to like nfl football when the players played in it but I don't watch nfl football anymore.Rather watch John Wayne reruns any day.

  • I do a lot of hibernating but i still have to get out on occasion. That snow doesn't just go away by it's self, until spring, and that's a long time away...

  • Re: Snow
  • Here in mid-Michigan we had snowfall Christmas Eve -about 7". Spent morning shoveling my drive. Got home from church and was prepared to go back out and do the neighborhood then it started to snow again and the winds were ferocious. Totaled about a foot around here and spent most of Christmas day snowblowing and shoveling til well after dark. Recuperating yesterday due to arthritic knees and hands ya know. Prepping for Friday and Saturday when more coming. It's the bitter cold -was -12F at 0400 without the wind chill factor, is now -9. Time to go into hibernation mode; stay inside, eat, drink, and sleep. You guys out east can have the 4 feet of snow but be safe.

  • Re: Snow
  • Just wish you'd have gotten the job in Big D Tim so you'd be at least half way warmer down this way, but I sincerely feel for all of you fella's who endure that kind of cold, ice and snow year after year for I dang sure couldn't handle it.

The forecast here in the greater Houston area is calling for freezing temperatures w/rain beginning New Year's eve and into next week and I'm shivering already just thinking about that. It's only in the low 40's here today, but I guess that'd be a blessing to y'all up that way right now.

    Take care and keep warm!

  • Re: Snow
  • We have only had a very light snow fall so far and it has basically all melted except for places in the shade. Quite frankly, I'm not looking forward to the snow at all.

I'm getting to where I don't like winter weather much anymore.

    Have a safe winter Carl.
    All the best,
    Mike in CO
