  • CAT 3306PC diesel generator
  • Anyone here know anything about diesels? Wife and I are teaching in the Aleutians. I'm trying to find part/service manuals for a CAT 3306PC 23C Arrangement #8N3417 diesel generator. There is a fuel leak I'm trying to fix. Eventually, I want to write an operation manual for the school. I don't have a ton of experience with diesels, but I didn't with 8ns either until I came here. I called the CAT dealer in Anchorage and they're talking about $1500 for a service manual, and haven't called back. We're dealing with a lot of issues here and any help would be appreciated. • Sounds like from google that the seals fail on the fuel transfer pump on a regular basis on a D5 which has the same motor.

  • Try checking fuel line from fuel tank thru filters to fuel pump first If there is a leak between these check filters for iceing up or bad fuel lines. If no leaks look at fuel pump to engine block for leaks. Possible leaking pump or injector line leaks. If not there remove top valve cover and see if injector lines are leaking to injectors. Sometimes cold weather does different things to seals. Bad part about diesel is the water effective in cold weather.
