  • Craigslist
  • I've responded to a few craigslist ads recently. Rarely do I ever get a reply. Even after sending a reply request two or three times. Recently I sent a reply to a listing that was only hours old, nothing in return. I find this strange and frustrating.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Most of the time, sellers do not include phone numbers, most do not.

  • sure have. twice in recent weeks. I don't get it. why go to the trouble of posting an ad with pictures and info and then just simply don't reply when someone with interest in the items tries to make contact. I think it is rude as heck quite frankly.

The only time I won't respond to someone's inquiry on an ad that I post is when the person comes at me with a stupid low-ball offer. That generally just PO's me.

  • One craigslist seller finally responded after two requests from me over a three day duration. Very cryptic in their reply, didn't answer the questions I asked.

  • I think a lot of clist is scams especially when there is no phone number and no local location given. I think some are just phising for email addresses that they then sell to other scammers an high pressure sales sites.

  • Recent response from seller
  • The following is the response I got after trying to arrange inspection of a Model A Ford offered for sale on craigslist. Needless to say, I'm not going to follow the sellers suggestions. After my repeated request for phone contact, actual address of the car and set up an inspection date, this is what I get. I offered to show up with trailer in tow and cash in hand. Buyer Beware.

"Right now, I'm not home because I'm a special needs nurse and can’t take off but I can arrange delivery to your address. I’d like it if we could use eBay because someone stood me up last week - he made me drive there but he didn't show up. They’ll hold the money so you have the chance to inspect it for 5 days. Only after you’ve had the chance to do all that you will call eBay and let them release the money. You’re not committed to buy it and if you request a refund, eBay will provide it within 24h.

If that sounds good to you, then all I need to get started with, is your name, delivery address and phone number."

  • That's a textbook Craigslist scam.
