  • The Game
  • Be honest now, how many of you watched the super bowl?
I refused to because of the NFL's stance on the Flag, Military, Veterans, Country and Police.
I can honestly say I didn't watch one second of the game. They don't need me and I surly don't need them.

  • Took a drive down the Sacramento River with my beautiful wife and had an early dinner in Rio Vista. Did not watch the game. Per the Wall Street Journal this Super Bowl had an historically low number of TV viewers.

  • We watched the Downton Abbey marathon. My daughter(huge Pats fan)threatened to disown us. :-)

  • I like Downton Abbey (lots of history therein) and would have watched had I known that it was being shown.

  • We watched it when originally aired....sorry to see it end. Like you said, it was an interesting historical perspective of the early 20th century.

  • It was fascinating, Jeff.

A historical soap opera about the end of a grand era.

  • Re: The Game
  • Wife was into it big time and she does not know much about football. She only wanted to see the Pats lose (not a Brady fan). When she got excited about a play or upset with the announcers (she claimed they were pro Pats), I looked into the living room or she came to my office/computer room to excitedly tell me about it. I did see a few minutes of the game.
I was concerned that she would pop a blood vessel.

  • Re: The Game
  • Nope - didn't watch it. I've watched every one until this year. Have not missed watching the NFL this year - was easier to do it than I thought it would be. Way more productive things to do on Sunday afternoons than sit on my butt and watch spoiled, entitled grown men, many of whom have never held a real job, and all who get paid more for playing a single game than most working stiffs make in a year at their jobs, whine about inequality. Yeah....I'll take some of that inequality, you ignorant morons.

  • Re: The Game and the diesel
  • Well, I took the wife out to buy a new to me, used 4wd F250. Drove about 80 miles to look at the first one and back about 45 miles to look at the second one. We went out to dinner and got there just before the half when I got to see the ball bobble and turnover at the end zone. I largely ignored the 1/2 time show and I occasionally thank God for going deaf from chemo. What dear? Yes dear, if you say so.
Ate dinner and watched a bit more of the game finally got home with 2 minutes remaining. She watched it, I ignored it. Today the '87 F250 super cab with the 6.9 diesel and 133K miles got towed home. $1800 and it runs but needs some work such as the steering column that has been was used as a handle by the prior owner.
133K on the odometer and at sometime in it's past the engine was replaced by Ford reman. Now to find me a 7.3...maybe.
Enough to add to the list of projects. Yes dear, I'll get to it. . .
171 days to retirement and I can work on the projects.

If I saw one knee down I would have turned it off, didn't see it or they blocked it from us !

  • Re: The Game
  • Folks watching were down 3% from last year, but still 100 million watched. So I heard. Plus about 25 of us at our local golf club. We are allowed because there is not much else happening on the Island. Except my self medicating neighbour, who hit and killed a jogger with his van last week. I hope they lock him up for a long time. But, back to the game, they need to work on two things: How to tackle, and have a definitive way of deciding what is a touchdown. Rugby could help them with both.

  • No sir, none at all. Once nothing was done about the Spread of Colin cancer in the NFL I have not had them on my radio or TV. If I was not boycotting the NFL I likely would not have watched much either as I have no interest in NE or Philly. Watch the upcoming Daytona 500 and you will see true respect for our flag and our anthem. As one team owner Richard Childress said, if anyone on his team did that they would immediately get a bus ticket home.

  • Not if Childress had a work operations policy and agreement to employ, which employers of his caliber utilize to establish proper conduct in the workplace and to protect them from frivolous actions. Remember, a employer Pays his/her Employees for their time to do a job as said Employer requires to be done. So my suggestion to you Homeboy, is to make certain your Brain is Fully Engaged before Releasing your Mouth. SoS

    I remember seeing it only once in the early 1950s on a 21" B & W TV.

Seeing it in color was a new experience for me.

  • Yes, my step daughter and three grandkids made a surprise visit to celebrate my birthday yesterday so we got pizza, played games, and watched a wholesome show. I lost interest in the NFL years ago anyway and also MLB now too. I'd rather be with family or hunting, fishing, or Tractoring.

Mainly so I could eat chicken wings and drink beer.
I still think most of them are spoiled overpaid babies that could break me in half...

  • Re: The Game
  • I never had much interest in pro sports. Once it gets past high school level I couldn't care less. Exception was the Cubs going to the Series. Had to root for the underdog. Got a grandson and granddaughter in elementary school sports, and looks like they each have more ability than I ever had, so I'll get to watch them for a few years.

  • Re: The Game
  • I watched it.
The Pats were not as good as they should have been, and the Eagles were on top of their game.
The Pats defense evidently took the day off, and they lost because of it.
The Eagles got the win and deserved it.
