  • Printer and ink
I have a HP 6960 printer, I just had to buy ink for it.
And the printer did not come with a instillation CD.
You have to download aps and it constantly phones home for more.
$72 for black cartridge and color cartridges.
They have you buy the but because that is all you can use.
Have you ever noticed the number of different cartridges
    they have?
That is like having to pay $20,000 for a oil change
    in you're new $30,000 vehicle.
I think HP needs to get some sensible engineers.

  • I have a HP6520, uses 564 ink cartridges. HP's are cost prohibitive so I have used cheap aftermarket cartridges for 2-3 years now. Work great but I frequently get HP messages saying "is your cartridge counterfeit, was it sold to you as an HP". I care less and delete it. Get the cartridges that say "new chip" and they will work. Full set of XL size cartridges costs less than $10, why pay more?

  • Unless you have a compelling reason to stay with HP, there are much better choices available, many with much less expensive ink.

  • I use the reverse approach when buying a printer. I have a couple of good sources for after market cartridges that are much cheaper. I find what cartridges are available and buy printer to match. I'm on my third brother all-in-one machine and the cheaper cartridges

  • The last time I had an HP need ink I bought a new Epson for less money than the cartridges. Bought a second new Epson for the farm since. I'll never go back to HP!

Bought two of their computers new but will never buy another either.

  • Yeah, HP ink jet printers, and other brands as well, are notorious for sucking up the ink. You can't get thru printing 50 documents in black without running out. My ink cartridges run about $30 each. I am looking into laser jet printers; money spent now would justify a $60 printer and $60 on ink cartridges every few weeks. I use to buy the ink refill kits and try that but it got hard to find them and was messy if not done right. They always seem to get us by the shorthairs one way or another...

  • I got tired of HP over priced ink about 5 years ago, so I bought an Epson WP-7520 and have never regretted that decision. The Epson ink costs 1/3 of the hp and the cartrige lasts 4X as long. Hp is like the old poloroid cameras the cameras were cheap but the film was way too expensive.
