  • Cell Phone Reception
  • My newer Samsung Cell Phone that I got for work gets awful reception at home. When I got it around Christmas it seemed to get the same reception as my older Samsung Phone, which I still have. Now the Newer Phone won't get reception at home at all while the older one gets 2 bars. Same Service Carrier... What Gives???

  • I have an old ATT Pantech. I traveled a lot with it and it has worked very well almost everywhere including N MI where I stay from time to time. In the past two to three years it has weakened to the point that this year there almost no service at all. Thought it was the battery but same with a new one. Verizon is the most reliable up there but some folks with them are losing coverage too. They seem to be restricting coverage in a directional way. Example, on the nearby highway south of and near a tower 4 bars. 3 miles NE of that same tower the phone shows emergency calls only and no service bars.

  • I googled the question and found several people with the same issues. It seems to be a glitch with the samsung phone. I can put the newer one and the older one side by side and the older one will get two more bars of reception.

  • I was first thinking your network changed (GSM or CMDA). But since you said you have the same carrier, that's not it. Could be a bad phone or the antenna isn't as good in the new phone. At Christmas, probably better reception since not as many leaves on the trees of you live in a wooded area.

    Just my thinking,

  • It's highly unlikely it is the make and model of the phone. Probably a result of poor carrier service and/or tower locations. Are you near an airport? near any Russians? ChiComs?
