  • Trying to keep busy
  • Trying to keep my self busy in between workout sessions. Model cars seem to fit the bill. Paint fumes are not my friend so I don't use them. Got special non toxic glue. May try to go outside and spray paint just the body on the next model I do.

What do you guys do in your "spare time"?

  • Brings back memories....we had a neighbor with a replica or a kit car of that Batmobile. He let me & my best friend sit in it a few times(we were around 6-7 years old).....until my friend slipped it into neutral one day & it rolled out into the street with us in it. I don't remember seeing it much after that.

  • I like to draw things. Birds, buildings, old cars, flowers. You can get a plain sketch pad or just use copy paper. Google drawings of birds or what ever you want to draw and just copy some at first. It does not matter how they look at first paper and pencil are cheap. Sometimes I just draw long vines with leaves and flowers. I use scrap paper backs of envelopes, empty cereal box cardboard. Some you like and keep, others you throw away.
Also books on tape. Now a days you can get all popular books on a recording that you can play on you phone or tablet. You can listen to a classic book while you draw or build things.

  • Bee Keeping is not an indoor sport...
My dad used to keep bee hives, until a swarm decided to move into a neighbors attic...

  • I don't know if they even make the old style airplane glue anymore -"...looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue...". If you want an off-season hobby to do indoors, try a wood model Mississippi paddleboat or wood boat. Building plastic scale models in our basement back in the 60's -whew! Parents then had the idea...send the boys downstairs with a model car and a tube of airplane glue....that'll keep them loopy til dinner and out of Mom's hair.

    See you soon, Tim

  • Hey Dan, try the wooden boat idea, I was out of work for 16 weeks with a bowel resection, they may seem a bit pricey, but was very time consuming. A lot of widdling and sanding, but in the end, I had a beautiful mantle piece.

  • There was, IMHO, only one BATMAN, the late Adam West. The BATMOBILE was built on a LINCOLN model. I had on AURORA or AMT Model back in 1966 when the show was on an popular. As with all our models cars, tricks, planes, boats, tanks, APOLLO Rockets and Lunar Landers, they all ended up being blown up with M-80's and/or destroyed with fire and gas. DOH! All valuable relics nowadays.

    ADAM WEST aka BATMAN:

Dan -are you back home now? Email me when you are up to me coming down. One of your nurses took this photo of you keeping busy during your recent hospital stay...

  • Work at the golf course on Mondays, play golf on Fridays, workout at the gym two times a week, mow my lawn and do other yard work, mow my elderly neighbors lawn, visit another of my elderly neighbors in the nursing home, repair things around here and anything a neighbor needs tending to, spend Wednesdays with my wife either going to the movie or going to the beach or something else fun to do, hunt 2-3 days a week October thru November and one day a week after that till January, then it's church on Sunday evening and it all starts over again on Monday...aah retirement is great but you gotta keep busy and I have no trouble doing that. I could think of a few more things but I've taken up enough time.
