  • Travel Trailer Insurance question
  • My hunting buddy and mine's hunting house of 18 years burned down back in March. We lost everything and decided not to look for another house and bought travel trailers to put on the property. My question is what kind Roadside Assistance do I need. AAA offers AAA plus and Camping world offers Good Sam(Standard) roadside assistance, both cover auto's and travel trailers they are pulling. I won't actually being using it for camping other than taking up to the hunting ground (old house site)in September and bring it home in January. I have coverage on it when it's parked I just want to be covered when moving it there and back and maybe in case I do decide to take to the Ga. mountains one time. What kind of coverage do some of you guy's have. Thanks, Roby

  • My auto insurance has road side assistance that covers me. Don't matter if I'm in my truck on the bike or driving my girl friends car. If I break down I call a toll free number and they come to my aide. Ask your policy holder if they can't make you happy call a company that will. I use USAA.

  • Yes mine also, but what if what you are towing breaks down ...bearing goes out...tire blows... a multitude of other things, what then? you'll need road assistance for the trailer...does your insurance cover that? I know if you get in a wreck and your trailer is damaged, it's covered.

  • I'm thinking yes if someone runs into you and your trailer is damaged..yes it is covered, but what if a bearing or axle goes out...what then? we are talking about road side assistance here.

  • Check with your auto insurance company. I believe anything hooked to or in your vehicle is covered by your auto insurance. As for road assistance I've never carried any on anything, even my cars. Why?
"Stuff" does happen but, I keep newer tires and good brakes on my vehicles and trailers. I also have the proper hitch for the load and working lights, checked each time that I hook up.
Again, "stuff" happens. Even with insurance, that won't prevent "stuff" from happening. I have 3 trailers, none are campers at present. One is an old 6x8 snowmobile trailer that I use as a utility. One is an 8x18 10k flatbed equipment trailer and my newest one is a 24' 9.9k enclosed cargo trailer. My utility is due for new tires this year.
I do pay for personal property insurance. Am I pushing my luck at age 75? "Stuff" happens.
