  • Can anyone explain Medicare??
  • Part A Hospital Stay pays 80%, you get this for "free" if you paid into Medicare for Life.
Part B Doctors Costs pays 80%, you pay medicare $134 per month for this or you get charged a penalty.
    Part C??
Part D Drug plan you have to pay a private company a premium per month??
You must sign up for a drug plan or you are charged a penalty?? AARP has one for $28 per month.

Advantage Plans: Some of these plans have a $0 premium.
These replace Medicare part A&B and cover Drugs. How can this be??
    I am so confused..... Help!!!

  • Depends a lot on your individual situation. Several years ago I switched to a Advantage Plan.

While in the grace period I had two medical procedures come up. On checking what the new plan was going to pay I immediately switched back and have never tried that again.

One will never know if they made the right decision!

    Good Luck,

  • Why don't you call them and let them explain it? I've had Medicare for a few years and the past two years have been pretty useless, since Owebama care was initiated, -coincidence??? when it came to what they covered. I would go to my doctor for a routine visit and then get a bill for a $100 office charge! Yesterday, fed up with the daily calls from a Blue Cross pharmacist about changes for 2019, I spent 2 hours on the phone with BCBS on making changes to my plan. I switched to their Medicare Advantage Plan, as I now only am on one prescription medication, and it will only cost me $2-$3 plus I will now see a $75 per month increase in my SS income because of less being taken out for Part A, Part B, and Part D. This new plan is basically an HMO plan and has a lot of 0 deductibles, and basic out of pocket expenses. Ask me agin in a year and if it is worth it.

  • Not to hijack the post, but those discussing the left leanings of AARP might take a look at AMAC. (Not associated with them, just interested myself)

  • No.

No one can keep up with the ever changing federale regulations regarding health care.

Hold your nose and take your best guess.

  • No. All I know according to an add running on a radio station in Bellingham WA. is that four out of five people pay less than 50.00 per month. They do not say for what.
Up here, one month I pay, next month I do not pay. Depends which party is in power provincially. Same thing happened with ferry fairs. As a footsy, I do not pay Monday to Thursday. Have to pay for whatever wheels I am using.

Once upon a time I voted for the party I thought was best for the province. Now I think I will vote for the party that is best for me. Read free stuff. Now I want free bus and commuter train rides.

  • Yeah. You hit the nail on the head with that one. I should vote for me.
Me, me, me, me, me. Then I could be like most everyone around these parts. I can just hardly wait for more quantative easing. I need some easing.

  • Why do you suppose AARP pushed so hard to get Obama voted in.

  • Bingo.

For this reason, the AARP mailings that I routinely get in the mail are s**t canned immediately without opening.
