  • Amazing firewood.
  • Had the pros drop two big trees. Now I am cutting them up into firewood size pieces. Getting really warm with this firewood job, and I have not put a match to it yet. Will probably get warm again when I split it. What amazing wood.

  • Wished I could join in the work. As it is though, I am sick, sick. Picked up something on our recent trip down to florida to see the kids. Right rotten bronchial infection. We were in St Augustine and had dinner. Afterwards as I was headed out past the cashier, I noticed a young girl cashier there who was really sick. That is probably where I picked it up Anyway Mike, take it easy splitting that wood. Enjoy the fun though. : )

  • Too often serving people do not think about their contact with customers:
    1. touching my coffee cup to refill
    2. coffee pot touching my cup when many others?
    3. cash handled and then food served
    4. bank cashier licking finger or thumb to count my cash
    5. person borrowing book or paper and licking finger to turn pages
    6. why do they need signs in restrooms, staff must wash hands before returning to work?
    7. "comfort" animals in inappropriate places
    8. people wanting to shake your hand while you are eating
    9. etc, etc, etc
    10. Add your contact concerns here

I have not had a cold of the flu in over 5 years and I don't want any. Probably will kill me. Wash, wash, wash!

  • Correct, most do not care and many don't know any better. Years ago channel 9 in Orlando did a bacteria swab test in some restaurants in the area. Tested things like kitchen sinks, refrigerators even toilet bowls. The teste showing the largest concentration of bacteria was, hold on, none other than the salad bar utensils. My pet peeve is when using the restroom at a nice restaurant and while I am carefully washing my hands I always take notice of many who come in and use the facilities and promptly leave without washing their hands at all, often I have seen them soon after at you guessed it the salad bar.

  • I hear ya John, I try to wash wash too. Sometimes I wonder though if I wouldn't have more resistance to germs if I was to lick the shopping cart handles and put coins in my mouth and lick my fingers after handling money. Some people don't get sick. Wonder what keeps them so healthy when old farts like me go on a short vacation trip and get wacked by the worst crap virus I think I have ever had.

  • Dad always said wood gave heat 5 times: cut tree, split wood, carry wood into house, stoke fire, carry ashes out.
Turned me off to considering a wood burning boiler in 1985 when we built our current house. Heating with natural gas...toasty.

  • Yesterday was a nice day here in the high 50s. Quite a few motors rode by our house. I split some wood not wanting to not enjoy such a nice day. Later I told my wife the log splitter got tired and called it a day.
