  • I enjoy country music original and SOME of the newer stuff. What is fun is when some one sings it backwords. Yup, his girl/lover came back, his dog came back, the truck runs fine, I quit drinkin, etc.

  • That's your prerogative Dave but just remember Rock N' Roll spawned from country/hillbilly music and American blues music. Sam Phillips and SUN RECORDS for example. Every rock artist there's ever been in the world owes all the old bluesmen a percentage of their checks because they all stole/borrowed from them. I didn't say that, it was Keith Richards a long time ago. The first two Led Zeppelin albums 'borrowed' almost every song on them from old blues songs. So, thanks to country, rock a' billy was born and the rest history. All the really good country songs and artists are from the days gone by. There are maybe a handful of 'true' country artists today, the rest just commercialized dribble.

  • Reminds me of my Ex-wife who once told me she no longer liked anything made before 1980. That was around 1997.
The top song was done in 1971 with 1.8M hits
The link was done in 1961 with 13.3M hits.

Some of the old stuff is good, some not so much.
Some of it makes my ears bleed, which is another story.
