  • Need a machinist
  • Could one of you guys make this for me?

Material could be steel, aluminum or maybe even a real thick plastic.

  • Dan, I've got A36 hot rolled 1/4 x 3 flat bar here if others plans don't work out.

  • That would be just about perfect Pat, save me the trouble of having to mail order it. Let me know what the charges are and I will get some money out to you.

  • I will start to make one today Dan, no problem. I have a piece of 3/16" cold rolled flat stock that will work. You know as well as I any local ACE hardware store carries flat and round stock -no need to shop Amazon.

  • I don't think wood will work Tim. Once I get this plate I can put the camshaft end in it and position it one the timing cover. Then use my stone pencil to mark the bolt holes and tap them. Once I get it bolted to the cover I can use the stone pencil to mark the outer shape and have a friend of mine cut it with my plasma cutter. Once thats done I can worry about what color to paint it.

  • My local Ace is an old time store that has a lot of stuff but nothing that you really need. They do have steel flat stock. Only thing 3" wide is 2' x 1/8" to long and to thin. They do have a hole saw, if you want to make a 4" hole :-)

  • You can get 3X12X1/4" aluminum or Plexiglas on Amazon. Then you just need a 1-7/8" hole saw.

  • My health is not good enough yet for me to get into my shop and use the drill press. I am walking short distances now but I can not stand long enough to do some thing like that.

  • Sorry to hear that things are slow for you right now, but also good to hear you are on the mend. Does it matter a lot if the piece is 4X12 instead of 3X12. I may have some 4" stuff.

  • Re: Need a machinist
  • No catch. I just can not make it and need this bracket for a project I am working on. So I am willing to pay someone to make it for me. The local welding/fabricating shop can not be bothered by little jobs like this.
