  • Un expected problems
  • Getting the whole house generator insralled. They need to cut power to hookup transfer switch. I said no problem go ahead. Bing! Instantly house is dead. Concentrator not making oxyven no problem saw this coming so bave a bottle sitting next to me. Concentrator has a high pitch alarm that hurts my ears. I can't turn it off. My chair was reclined when they killed power now I cant get out of it.

  • Dan, call 911 asap. They will respond immediately and be happy to do so. Have a heavy friend here that has frequent spells then falls and is unable to get up. He pushes his alarm button and either EMT's or the FD respond. They also carry Oxygen.

  • All is good now. After 15 minutes that alarm shut off and then one of the crew came in to use the bathroom. He turned off the power switch for me so the alarm would not come back on. After they turned the power on he came back in and turned it on for me and even went in the basement to make sure the furnace kicked on. I have several backup oxygen bottles in case of power outage.

Just goes to show no matter how much you plan some thing always happens.

  • Dan, I hooked up a UPS (battery backup for a computor) to our oxygen concentrator so it w8ll run for several hours without power. It also runs the electric recliner. Yours should have a battery backup box.
Also if you switch the concentrator off when the alarm goes off, the alarm will stop.
The blue everflo concentrators are the best ones.

  • Well damn! Why didn't I think of that? I can get a UPS free from where I used to work. Oh well. Got a whole house generator now so I don't need it. Good idea though Steve.

  • Dan,

Still sounds like a great idea! Surely you've heard the statement "Anything mechanical is inherently prone to failure"
