A while back a poster had asked about 2N's in Australia. I suggested they got there through the military since Australia was the primary base of operational support for the South Pacific. That got me going some in just reading up some on the Australian role and that led me to read Samuel Elliot Morrison's "Two Ocean War" again. Reading it I noticed that several campaigns and major events took place in or close to the first week of the month. June 6th 1944, D-Day in Europe, August 6th 1945, the Atomic Bomb on Japan, December 7th 1941, Pearl Harbor, May 4-8th 1942, The Battle of the Coral Sea, June 4-8th 1942, Battle of Midway, November 8th 1942, The invasion of Africa, July 9th 1943, the invasion of Sicily.
I just found that kind of interesting.

This photo is of me and my Dad taken by Bob when he told dad he enlisted in the army.
Dad was resoling shoes in the basement where we lived on Kohler St in Tonawanda, NY.
My oldest brother Dick was already in the navy.
I am 81 years old now, but I remember.
