This morning I read that Lido Anthony (Lee) Iaccoca has passed away. His largest claims to fame was the original Ford Mustang, the savior of Chysler Corporation, the "K" car, and the Mini Van. Another less known fact is Lee had the inspiration of the Continental Mark III. While on business in Canada, at 2 AM, from his hotel room, Lee called Chief Designer Hal Sperliecht and instructed him to " Put a Rolls Royce grille on a Thunderbird and see what you get " The Mark III was born and became a big seller. Iaccoca when President of FoMoCo, was very popular with Ford dealers. I very well remember the day in 1978, when I stopped by Bob Farish Motor Company, the local Ford-Mercury dealer, and discovered that HFII had fired Lee. The entire dealership was in shock and had a sense of mourning looming over it. Bob Farish Jr stated it was " A dark day for Ford". Rest in Peace Lee Iaccoca, you have been, and will always be my Hero. FWIW, SoS.

Re: Lee Iaccoca
He was a visionary and a highly effective corporate leader.
Today, he would be labeled an evil, greedy capitalist by the left.
